BOTOX®

BOTOX can reduce the appearance of frown lines, wrinkles, laugh lines and crow's feet. It releases the wrinkles in the forehead and the frown lines between the eyes. It elevates the eyebrows to open the eyes and give a brighter, more alert appearance. It can reduce the crow's feet around the eyes and can also be used to relax the muscle under the neck, the prominence of which is a sign of aging.

Dr. Weissman is a member of the BOTOX® Cosmetic Physicians' Network. He has administered BOTOX to patients safely since 1997.

To remove deeper wrinkles, Dr. Weissman uses a filler, such as Restylane.

Brow lift (lateral) - Outer Eyebrows

The smallest procedure is called a lateral brow lift. If the outer third-of your eyebrows (the part closest toward your ear) appear droopy and wrinkled, a lateral brow lift may help to brighten your eyes. This can be done under local anesthesia and can be performed alone or as part of the South Beach Facelift. A small incision is made just within the hairline near the temple. This raises the other third of the eyebrow and reduces some wrinkles on the upper eyelids. The result is a brighter looking eye and a more youthful appearance.

Brow Lift (endoscopic) - Whole Eyebrow

A more comprehensive brow lift is an endoscopic brow lift. Unlike the lateral brow lift, which only addresses the outer third of the eyebrow, this brow lift improves the entire width of the eyebrow. It is best for patients whose eyebrows sag on or below the bony ridge that is normally directly under the eyebrow. Dr. Weissman makes 5 small incisions within the hairline. He uses a tiny video camera to target the precise areas that are causing the eyebrow to sag. In addition, the surgery relieves wrinkles between the eyes and makes the area smoother. The procedure is done under sedation or general anesthesia. This procedure can be done independently or at the same time as the South Beach Facelift.

Brow Lift (coronal) - Whole Eyebrow and Forehead (a "forehead lift")

For patients who need more extensive eyebrow and forehead improvements, Dr. Weissman can perform a coronal brow lift also known as a "forehead lift." An incision is made at or within the hairline, and the excess skin and tissue within the forehead is removed. The muscles under the skin are cut so that the wrinkles do not return. This procedure also eliminates the deep furrows at the root of the nose and between the eyes. It also lifts the eyebrows, making your eyes appear brighter. The surgery is performed under general or sedation anesthesia and is an outpatient procedure. Because there is temporary swelling, you must rest at home for several days after the procedure. Because this is a more aggressive type of surgery that can involve complications, Dr. Weissman uses it only when an extensive procedure is necessary. How would a forehead lift change your appearance? Place the palms of your hands at the outer edges of your eyes, above your eyebrows. Drawing the skin up will show you the effect of the surgery. You will notice a more youthful appearance with fewer forehead wrinkles, fewer frown lines, and eyes that seem wider and brighter.

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion removes deeper wrinkles around the lips by "sanding off" superficial layers of the skin and allowing new collagen and skin to return to the area. It can be performed under local anesthesia in one 30-40 minute visit and requires several weeks to heal.

Eyelid Surgery (blepharoplasty)

Because the skin around the eyes is so thin, wrinkles around your eyes will become more prominent as you get older. Over time, small pockets of fat become more visible. Some of these changes, especially the bagginess around the eyes, can be hereditary. That is one reason why this cosmetic operation is popular among younger patients.

Eyelid surgery can remove bags, pouches and excess skin from over and under the eyes. At times, this surgery is accompanied by a lift of the eyebrows for a more youthful look. While this surgery will not remove crow's feet or the dark circles under the eyes, there are other procedures that can remedy those problems.

In most cases, eyelid surgery takes only a couple of hours. First, the upper lids are worked on. Then, the doctor lifts the skin and muscle of the lower eyelids, removes the fat bags, and trims the excess skin. All the excisions are well hidden in natural skin creases. This surgery gives patients a more refreshed and alert appearance. Friends may not notice you've had surgery, but they will realize that you look less tired and more alert. This improvement is usually permanent and has a dramatic impact on your appearance. This procedure can be performed on either the upper or lower eyelids - or both - as needed.

Facial Liposculpture

One of the most common problems that Dr. Weissman sees is excess fat along the jowls and under the neck. Sometimes it is accomplined by excess hanging skin on the neck and jowl area. In younger people, it is often caused by weight loss, or it runs in the family. In older patients, it occurs as the skin on the neck and jowls naturally loses its elasticity. The procedure uses liposuction to remove the excess fat and to sculpt the area around the jaw and neck. In younger patients with only fat and good tissue elasticity, this procedure to remove the excess fat and restore a normal chin-neck line can be done in the office under local anesthesia. In more extensive cases where there is excess skin, the procedure can be done as part of the South Beach Facelift under local anesthesia.

Otoplasty

This surgical procedure reconstructs the normal curves of the ears, so they do not stick out. It can be done under local anestisa, and usually takes about one hour. There are several techinquies that can be used depending on which area of the ear is not folded correctly. The procedure leaves no visible scars.

Nose Job (Rhinoplasty)

This procedure corrects deformities in the cartilage and bones of the nose. This is done as an outpatient procedure under sedation or general anesthesia. The primary purpose is to enhance the attractiveness of nose.

Nose Job (Septoplasty)

Septoplasty is not usually a cosmetic procedure. In cases where a patient has a twisted nose that is causing difficulty breathing, straightening the septum can bring the nose back to the center of the face and improve the airway.

Restylane®

Restylane is a cosmetic filler that can reduce the appearance of deep wrinkles and folds on the face. Improvements usually last about 6 months before another treatment is needed. Restylane is administered by injection. Restylane is made from Hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in the skin. For that reason, no skin testing is necessary. Dr. Weissman has treated patients safely with Restylane since 1997.

TCA Light Face Peel

A light chemical peel works well to remove superficial wrinkles and age spots. This treatment is an excellent, inexpensive way to improve the fine wrinkles on the face, nose and around the lips. The procedure is performed in our office and takes less than 15 minutes. You are able to go out that night without a red or burnt face that occurs with laser treatment or deeper peels. It gives a freshness to the skin. Several brief treatments are needed for optimal results. The use of appropriate cosmetics at home will help prolong and improve the results of the office treatment.
